Dave has been coaching XP teams throughout the Midwestern US since 2002. Dave is a hands-on coach, spending the majority of his time pair programming with client developers, crafting Ruby and Java applications via test-driven development. Dave’s background in family therapy has helped him engage and introduce agile practices into environments that were previously resistant to change. Dave is an experienced retrospective facilitator and uses iteration and project retrospectives to tailor the XP process to his clients’ unique needs.
Dave’s technical specialties include:
* Implementing open-source functional test suites
* Ajax development with Prototype and Scriptaculous
* Ruby on Rails
* Testing and developing multi-threaded Java applications.
Dave has spoken at several conferences and user groups about his work on software craftsmanship and teamworking. He is currently writing “From Apprentice to Journeyman” (working title) with Adewale Oshineye, exploring the patterns of successful apprenticeships in the field of software development.
Dave holds degrees in psychology and family therapy from Wheaton College and Seattle Pacific University. Dave lives with his wife and three children in Wheaton, Illinois.
